Published 3 practices 2 reader questions

In Albany, you can see a hypnotist in person at one of HypnosisWorksWell’s three Capital Region offices, which include Albany, or work entirely online with Deborah Nettles of the Albany Hypnosis Center by Zoom or phone. Both practices describe their services on their own websites, which we read in October 2026, and both offer a free consultation. For a third option a short drive north, Greater Life Health in Malta also sees clients in person or online. The order below is not a ranking.

HypnosisWorksWell

George Guarino’s HypnosisWorksWell offers private sessions in Albany, Clifton Park and Delmar for quitting smoking, losing weight, sleep, fear and sports or school performance, and teaches people to hypnotize. The site cites more than a decade of experience and offers a free phone assessment. Call (518) 256-6549.

Albany Hypnosis Center (Deborah Nettles)

The Albany Hypnosis Center site is now the practice of Deborah Nettles, who describes herself as a master hypnotist, pranic healer and mentor coach and lists virtual sessions by Zoom, FaceTime or phone. She offers virtual hypnosis for stress and longstanding habits and patterns, alongside pranic healing and coaching. Pranic healing is an energy practice; if you have a medical condition, keep your physician involved rather than treating it as a replacement for care. Call (518) 275-7388 for a free consultation.

Greater Life Health

Greater Life Health is an integrative hypnotist and coaching practice in Malta, off Exit 12 of the Northway, which lists Albany among the places within an easy drive and offers in-person or online sessions. Call (518) 879-1078.

What to know first

New York’s Office of the Professions licenses psychologists, social workers and mental health practitioners, but hypnosis is not on its list of licensed professions (professions index). For a diagnosed condition such as an anxiety disorder or depression, see a licensed clinician, whose license you can confirm on the state’s verification search. In a crisis, call or text the 988 Lifeline at 988, or call 911.

On evidence, the National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health reports support for gut-directed hypnotherapy in irritable bowel syndrome and growing evidence that hypnosis may help with some painful conditions; studies on quitting smoking have had conflicting results (NCCIH).

Albany hypnosis questions

Is hypnosis covered by a New York State employee health plan?

Ask your plan administrator and the practice before you book; coverage depends on the plan and on who provides the service.

Is there Reiki in Albany?

See Reiki practitioners in Albany. For practices nearer Saratoga, see the Saratoga Springs hypnotist page.

Details here come from each practice’s own website as of October 2026 and can change; confirm them before booking. A listing is not a referral, and hypnosis does not replace medical or psychological care.
