Manhattan Hypnotist Services
This page lists three Manhattan hypnosis practices that describe their services, address and phone number on their own websites, which we read in October 2026: Self Empowered Minds on the Upper East Side, the Advanced Hypnosis Center of New York on the Upper West Side, and Manhattan Hypnosis in Midtown East. Two offer a free consultation before you book, the third takes calls and a contact form, and all three work with clients who are not in the room, by Zoom, by phone or with a recorded session. The order below is not a ranking of results, and each entry says only what the practice itself publishes.
| Practice | Office | Remote options | Published price | First step |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Self Empowered Minds | 420 E. 81st St., Suite 1, Upper East Side | Zoom | $343 for the 90-minute initial session | Free 20-minute consultation |
| Advanced Hypnosis Center of New York | 110 W. 96th St., Upper West Side | Zoom, phone | Ask when you call | Call or contact form |
| Manhattan Hypnosis | 750 Third Ave., 9th Floor, Midtown East | Customized session recorded on mp3 | Ask during the consultation | Free phone consultation |
Self Empowered Minds
Self Empowered Minds is the practice of Saba Hocek, who describes herself on the site as a certified hypnotist, biofeedback specialist and Usui/Holy Fire Reiki Master. Private hypnosis sessions take place at 420 East 81st Street, Suite 1, between First and York Avenues, or online by Zoom. The hypnosis sessions page lists the initial session as 90 minutes for $343 and offers a free 20-minute consultation before booking. The practice frames hypnosis as a complementary wellness service for goals such as habits, confidence, focus and relaxation, not as a replacement for licensed medical or mental-health care, and states that there is no guaranteed result or fixed timetable for lasting change. Reiki and biofeedback are separate services with their own prices. The office is a few blocks from the 86th Street 4/5/6 station and the Q at Second Avenue, according to the practice. Call (917) 658-1660.
Advanced Hypnosis Center of New York
The Advanced Hypnosis Center of New York is directed by Jeffrey Rose, a clinical hypnotist and nutrition counselor who, according to the site, established the center in 1999 and is certified by the National Guild of Hypnotists, the International Association of Counselors and Therapists and the International Medical Dental Hypnosis Association. The office is at 110 West 96th Street, Suite 2B, on the Upper West Side, and sessions are also offered by Zoom and by phone. The site lists programs for weight, smoking, alcohol, sports and self-confidence, and a team of hypnotists that includes Dr. Ricartty Trinidad, who conducts sessions in Spanish and English. Call (212) 585-4430.
Manhattan Hypnosis
Manhattan Hypnosis is at 750 Third Avenue, 9th Floor, Suite 952, between 46th and 47th Streets. Its founder and director, Trudy Beers, runs the free phone consultation and, the site says, matches each client with a hypnotist from the team, which includes NGH-certified hypnotists Michael and Roma O’Hara. For people who cannot get to a Midtown office, the practice offers a customized session recorded on mp3. The site states that a hypnotist does not diagnose or treat illness. The main line is (917) 747-9763; the O’Haras can be reached at (917) 923-8227.
What hypnosis has been shown to help with
The National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health summarizes the research by goal, and the answer is different for each (NCCIH, last updated January 2020). Gut-directed hypnotherapy has evidence for irritable bowel syndrome, and a growing body of evidence suggests hypnosis may help manage some painful conditions. For anxiety before medical or dental procedures, results are promising but not conclusive, and studies of hypnosis for quitting smoking have had conflicting results. Confidence, which all three practices list, and weight loss are not covered in that summary, so treat them as goals to discuss with the practice rather than documented outcomes.
Credentials and New York law
Hypnosis is not on the list of professions licensed by the State Education Department’s Office of the Professions, which covers psychology, social work, mental health practitioners, massage therapy and other fields (professions index). Certifications from the National Guild of Hypnotists or the International Association of Counselors and Therapists are issued by those organizations, not by the state, so ask what training they required.
If your goal is treatment for a diagnosed condition, such as an anxiety disorder, depression or trauma symptoms, look for a licensed clinician. New York defines the practice of psychology to include “the diagnosis and treatment of mental, nervous, emotional, cognitive or behavioral disorders” (Education Law §7601-a), and you can check any New York license holder on the State Education Department’s license verification search. If you are in crisis, call or text the 988 Lifeline at 988; in an emergency, call 911.
Questions before you book
Which practice is easiest to reach by subway?
It depends on your line. Self Empowered Minds is near the 86th Street 4/5/6 and the Q at Second Avenue, the Advanced Hypnosis Center is on West 96th Street, so check the MTA trip planner for the nearest 96th Street station on your line, and Manhattan Hypnosis is on Third Avenue between 46th and 47th Streets in Midtown East. If you live outside Manhattan, see the pages on hypnotists with Brooklyn offices and hypnotists with Queens offices.
Can I work with a Manhattan hypnotist without going to the office?
Yes. Self Empowered Minds and the Advanced Hypnosis Center offer Zoom sessions, the Advanced Hypnosis Center also works by phone, and Manhattan Hypnosis records a customized session on mp3. Whether a remote session suits your goal is a question for the consultation; none of the three practices promises a particular result.
Will insurance pay for a session?
Ask the practice before you book whether it bills insurance or gives a receipt you can submit. If you plan to use a health savings or flexible spending account, check with the plan administrator first.
What about age regression or Reiki in Manhattan?
Age regression is a different service with its own questions about memory; see age regression hypnosis in Manhattan. For energy work, see Reiki practitioners in Manhattan.
Addresses, phone numbers, prices and session formats on this page come from each practice’s own website as we read it in October 2026, and they can change. Confirm them with the practice before you book. A listing here is not a referral or a recommendation, and hypnosis is not a substitute for medical or psychological care.
